A Lieutenant is assigned to command the Support Services Platoon which includes the Criminal Investigations Division (CID). CID Detectives are assigned to the investigation of serious felony and misdemeanor offenses that occur in the town. Detectives are typically assigned to follow-up on incidents initially reported to patrol officers. Detectives have the training and the necessary time to more thoroughly investigate reported criminal incidents in order to identify suspects, effect arrests, and successfully prosecute cases.

The mission of the Criminal Investigative Division is to efficiently and effectively investigate all crimes while building trust-based relationships with the community which we serve. Providing a holistic and trauma-informed approach when dealing with victims of crimes.
